A new group for singers is now underway in Winchelsea and enjoying the opportunity to sing for pleasure, for proven wellbeing and in the company of friends.
Gary Marriott, well known locally as a brilliant tenor and much loved performer, leads the group with songs including folksongs, simple rounds, songs from the shows, and popular classics. Not only is Gary’s enthusiasm infectious but he also makes it great fun. The warm up exercises are gentle and benefit our whole bodies as well as our voices.
All are welcome. You don’t need to be a trained singer or able to read music, but just to enjoy simple tunes, joining in and the good company. No performances are planned (but who knows how it may progress?) The group already has a solid base of at least twenty enthusiasts, some of whom may never have attempted singing before. Let’s keep this happy, healthy community activity going. Please give it a try, come along and bring a friend too if you wish.
The weekly sessions are on Tuesdays at Winchelsea New Hall at 2pm and finish about 3.15pm. Currently the cost per session is £2. For more information please contact Rosemarie Roberts on 07941 458628.
