On Saturday evening 11th January 2020 the New Inn was packed with standing room only in readiness for the charity cheque presentations to the Friends of the Conquest Hospital CT Scanner Appeal.

Presenting the Christmas Windows Cheque

William Cooper, who made a brilliant Window, with Sandra Merrifield of the Christmas Windows team and Mike Eastwood of the Friends of the Conquest Hospital

Two cheques were handed over. Members of Winchelsea Guy Fawkes Society presented a cheque for £435.49. Funds were raised from Ann Haddock and friends and her ‘Lion Cottage Film Club’, from the Summer Fete, the visit of East Surrey Morris Men, and collection boxes at Winchelsea Farm Kitchen and the New Inn.

Members of the Winchelsea Christmas Windows Team presented a cheque for £1020. Funds were raised from the sale of snowman badges, maps and Christmas cards. Also, many local businesses generously donated with sponsorship of the Christmas Windows map and trail. The Christmas Windows Committee, ably led by Cheryl Fraser-Sampson, were pleased to record such a successful outcome for the year and would like to thank all those helped to achieve this splendid result.

Mike Eastwood accepted the cheques on behalf of the ‘Friends’ and was truly grateful. Many thanks to everyone for their hard work and generosity.

To help celebrate the evening local folk band ‘Sea Road Scratch Band’ provided brilliant entertainment.
