HRH The Prince of Wales made a brief visit to Winchelsea on 12th May 2021

HRH The Prince of Wales at Winchelsea Church

Not having been before, he and his team were primarily interested in Winchelsea’s famous grid townscape, seeking inspiration for a new housing development on Duchy of Cornwall land at Faversham.

The Prince was greeted by the Rector and the Mayor, admired the Strachan stained glass in St Thomas’, and paused to see Spike’s grave on his way for a walk around the town.  He was also able to visit the medieval cellar at Rookery Cottage before being whisked off to Faversham.
