It was a lot of hard work but great fun.
The Garden Society potted up 300 Hyacinth bulbs and 200 Paperwhite Daffodill bulbs in 90 various containers donated by the gracious gardeners of Winchelsea; the Ladies who Bake, baked numerous cakes; the Ladies who Paint (and some Gentlemen) made prints, Christmas Cards and paintings for sale; Jo Turner supplied her fabulous sausage rolls and Anne Simpson surpassed all expectations with a table-full of Christmas decorations (including Nordic Gnomes!!), Lavender Bags, colourful brooches and pendants and Membrillo Paste. And there was more – much more – with stalls ranging from home-made produce, glassware, walking sticks, jewellery, pottery, Christmas Decorations to Chocolates and Children’s clothing.
Not forgetting Cynthia and Richard Feast’s Tombola Stall and all the generous organisations in Winchelsea & Rye who donated some very interesting Raffle prizes. Our heartfelt thanks go to everybody involved from the setting-up and decorating of the New Hall, the catering team and washer-uppers, the co-ordinators of the publicity and the booking of the Stall-holders and those who donated bric-a-brac, bottles and chocolates.
Thank you all so very much for your generosity and time and you’ll be pleased to know that, despite the weather, we raised £1,200 all towards the refurbishment of our New Hall.
