This year’s Garden Society Winter Lecture takes place on Saturday 18th January 2020 at 2.30pm in Winchelsea New Hall. The speaker will be Jim Buttress

Jim has spent a lifetime in horticulture. His book ‘The People’s Gardener’ is now on sale and is rapidly becoming a best seller. Seen on TV in the documentary The World Garden at Lullingstone and more recently as the popular judge in The Big Allotment Challenge. he continues presenting radio programmes and acting as a judge for the RHS. Jim Buttress trained at RHS Wisley and worked for the GLC before becoming Superintendent of the Central Royal Parks, and then Superintendent of Greenwich Royal Park. He has frequently exhibited at the Chelsea Flower show, winning the gold medal numerous times. His illustrated talk will be on the Central Royal Parks: Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Clarence House and Buckingham Palace.
