Table Tennis

A new club has started on a Monday from 6-7pm and we are planning one during the day. It’s very friendly and full of laughs. We hope you can join us.

Christmas Fair

Another wonderful Christmas Fair organised by Anita Bevan and volunteers. We raised over £1000 towards new windows. Anita is stepping down from running the Christmas Fair and we would like to thank her for all her hard work raising thousands of pounds towards the refurbishment of the hall. We are looking for someone to take over. Please contact Robert Holland if you are interested.

Let’s Talk about the New Hall

15th Feb, 2.30pm

Come and hear the history of the New Hall and how it was rescued from oblivion. Speakers will include local historian Malcolm Pratt, and architects Roger Neaves and Dominic Leahy.

This is a fundraising talk in aid of new windows and the external decoration of the New Hall. We look forward to welcoming you all with tea and cake.

How Much is that Doggy In the Window?
Thanks to Hilary Roome for the lovely logo for our window appeal.

Fantastic New Catering Kitchen

We did it! Thanks to everyone for donating and supporting hall fundraising events. And thanks to the Little Cheyne Wind Farm and Rother Council for their grants. We started improving the kitchen 3 years ago after consultations and identified: a) light users, b) large scale tea and cake providers, c) occasional large event users, d) professional caterers

The principal architect behind the new kitchen is Rob Mortimer who carried out the work in a voluntary capacity, mainly over the Christmas period, saving the New Hall thousands of pounds. We are incredibly appreciative and grateful.

Hiring the Hall

For just £13 per hour, individuals can hire a large, light and airy hall, with a stage, professional kitchen, sprung dance floor, heating and lighting. The standard commercial rate is £15 per hour. There is a regular booking discount of £10 per hour: You must book and pay for a minimum of 10 sessions a year. Weekend Wedding hire costs £600.

The hall has an entertainment licence, so you can perform, play music and watch films in the hall. The hall has an alcohol licence, but you may have to take out a temporary licence.

We are fundraising for new windows and would like to thank The Little Cheyne Court Windfarm (£5000) and The Rye Fund (£500). Also thank you to The Rye Community Shop for £1000 towards exterior decoration and Rother Community Fund for £975 towards the resurfacing of the front hardstanding.

We have a new professional catering kitchen.

Dance floor

Our hall has a superb dance floor. People come from miles around specially to enjoy using it.

We have a large stage, with professional lighting and a hall capacity of 120 seats, with standing room too.

Outdoor access

We have a decking area outside, which overlooks the cricket ground and beautiful views into the Brede Valley, with plenty of walks.

Hearing loop

We have very good acoustics in the hall and now we have a hearing loop too, so that people with hearing impediments can hear lectures, speeches and music.

Maintenance, repairs and improvements

We have done some amazing refurbishment to the New Hall over the past 3 years. We have an amazing new professional kitchen, new front door, electrics, lighting, curtains, kitchen boiler, heating system, defibrillator, repairs to emergency doors and there’s more to come!
