LATEST NEWS

The refurbishment of the gents toilets is complete! This brings them up to the standard of the ladies which were refurbished last year and provides some much needed storage space. We are delighted that we have been successful in gaining a considerable amount of grant funding for the final phase of the renovations. We have received £2,310 from Rother District Council from their Carbon Reduction Scheme. This money has helped pay for new double-glazed sash windows. The Little Cheyne Court Windfarm donated £3,000 towards the builders and flooring contractors costs and The Rye Fund awarded the hall £750 towards the plumbing work. Finally, we have received £4,224 from the Platinum Jubilee Fund towards the total budget and are grateful to DEFRA for their support .
The Christmas fair in November raised around £2,300 to support the refurbishment after expenses and a donation of £567 to the Rye Food bank. Also, the organisers of a wonderful Burn’s Night event donated over £400 to the hall. Thank you!
A huge thank you goes to the Second Wednesday Society who generously donated £500 to the hall which will contribute to the projects we need to undertake later this year.  Our next major project will be to upgrade the stage lighting.
Thank you to our fundraising committee and supporters.

Licences

The hall has an entertainment licence, so you can perform, play music and watch films in the hall. The hall has an alcohol licence, but you may have to take out a temporary licence.

Fundraising

Although hiring out the hall covers most of our day to day running costs we continually need to raise funds for our next big projects. Recently these have been  the much needed upgrading and refurbishment of the ladies and gents toilets. The next large project will be to replace the outdated and now obsolete stage lighting system. Initial estimates for a complete replacement are in the region of £90,000 so we hope to be able to begin on a more gradual basis!

Please let a committee member know if you would like to make a donation towards our fundraising. Being a charity, gift aid applies.

Don’t forget you can also help by joining the “100 Club” which is a local lottery to raise funds for good causes. For just £2 per month or £24 for the year you can have your allocated number entered into the monthly draw and a chance to win £100 cash each month. You can join at any time! Contact Rosemarie Roberts or Ali Casey to sign up and help with our fundraising via our email newhall@winchelsea.com

Maintenance, repairs and improvements

We have carried out extensive refurbishment to the New Hall over the past few years. We have a  professional kitchen, new double glazed windows, accessible front door, new curtains, new stage curtains, exterior and interior redecoration and improved insulation to the roof and most recently an upgrade of the cloakroom and addition of a new accessible toilet all of which combine to make the hall an enjoyable and beautiful space!
