Defibrillator Training

The New Hall has a new defibrillator and Chairman Robert Holland organised a training session with Rother Responders on Monday 26 March. It was a fantastic response with over 40 people attending and we can’t praise everyone in our community enough for being so caring and responsive. To give you an idea of how what a fantastic you are, a couple of recent training events by Rother Responders in the Rother area had 0 and 6 attendees. What a remarkable town!

Christmas Fair

A wonderful Fair and thank you to everyone who helped and attended. The team raised a tremendous £1,400.

Hiring the Hall

For just £13 per hour, individuals can hire a large, light and airy hall, with a stage, kitchen, dance floor, heating and lighting. The standard commercial rate is £15 per hour. There is a regular booking discount of £10 per hour: You must book and pay for a minimum of 10 sessions a year.

Licences

The hall has an entertainment licence, so you can perform, play music and watch films in the hall. The hall has an alcohol licence, but you may have to take out a temporary licence. 

Fundraising

The Christmas Fair raised £1400. Well done to everyone who made it happen and attended. We received a Grant of £5,000 towards a new heating boiler and new curtains. Thankyou Innogy Renewables UK Ltd and their Little Cheyne Court Wind Farm Trust.

Stage

We have a large stage, with professional lighting and a hall capacity of 120 seats, with standing room too.

Dance floor

Our hall has a superb dance floor. People come from miles around specially to enjoy using it.

Kitchen

Our kitchen has 2 cookers, 2 fridges, 2 serving hatches and sets of crockery and glasses for over a 100 sittings. The water boiler is new and brilliantly efficient.

Outdoor access

We have a decking area outside, which overlooks the cricket ground and beautiful views into the Brede Valley, with plenty of walks.

Hearing loop

We have very good acoustics in the hall and now we have a hearing loop too, so that people with hearing impediments can hear lectures, speeches and music.

Maintenance, repairs and improvements

We have a new front door! This gives easier access to people with less agility; improves sound-proofing from the road; and cuts down on draft and rattling. 

Some of our latest work on the hall has been ELECTRIC!  Not only have we carried out standard maintenance and repairs, we’ve added new lighting with a dimmer switch, so evening events can have soft and subtle lighting.
