Winchelsea Garden Society

NGS Open Gardens

For many years the Summer Show and Fete has the principal event of the Winchelsea Garden Society, but from 2012 the Summer Fete will be a separately managed event, and the Summer Show of the Garden Society will be replaced with an early Autumn Show (see What's On for for a list of events including the 2012 Summer Fete date). The Society organises talks and garden visits, and hosts a number of events throughout the gardening year, notably the Spring and Autumn shows which attract many fine entries from local enthusiasts.

If you would like to join the Garden Society please contact Mrs Cynthia Feast on 01797 222629

The Summer Fete has all the ingredients of a really traditional English village fete including:

  • Stalls selling cakes, bric-a-brac, books and many others
  • Tea and cakes for sale
  • Children's events
  • A very popular dog show
  • Coconut Shy
  • Music... and more

Don't miss it. On a fine summer's afternoon nothing could be more fun for everyone!

Open Gardens Photos - 2011

Behind the walls of Winchelsea lie some small but enchanting gardens, often called "The Secret Gardens of Winchelsea". These are lovingly cared for by their owners and on one Saturday in June each year are opened to the public in aid of the charities that make up the National Gardens Scheme. In 2012 there will also be an NGS Open Gardens day in April. Make a note in your diaries for this marvellous event (see What's Onand theNGS website).

Look out for the details in the local press, on notices about the Town or of course in the National Gardens Scheme yellow book which gives details of all the gardens in the country that are open. If you have not visited us on this day then you are in for a treat but come early - it has become increasingly popular.
